BAR CA NA CHINCHILLA - SUPPER

Address:  La Rambla, 7, 07003, Palma
Telephone:  00 34 971 45 60 61

My husband and I had a light supper here on a Tuesday evening in March with a couple of friends who had just arrived in Palma from the UK.  We had booked the table in advance as even on weeknights this is a popular venue.
The bar/bistro is quite small, but there is no feeling of being crammed in.  It has bar height tables and stools in the front and some dining tables and chairs in the rear.  We had a corner table by the window.  The ambience is a welcoming eclectic mix of Mallorcan paintings and artefacts.
A husband and wife team run this establishment with great professionalism and a friendly approach.
Our drinks' order was quickly taken - white wine and a gin and tonic - and menus brought.  The drinks were all more than acceptable.
We decided to ask the owner to suggest some starters and main courses which was a very good move as every dish was beyond tasty.  Our starters included a perfectly moist tortilla, hand-carved jamón Serrano, sliced local cheese and mixed olives.  We shared two legs of lamb with potatoes between four of us and were amazed at how tender and moist the lamb was.  A very traditional Mallorcan feast.
Only one of the party was able to make room for a dessert - a small portion of ice cream - whilst the others had a small coffee to finish.
The service was at just the right pace and the engagement with us was exactly appropriate.
The bill, including tip, came to €70 per couple which we felt was extremely good value for money for the quantity and quality of our meal.
If you fancy rubbing shoulders with the locals and enjoying some good hearty Mallorcan food this is definitely an eatery to visit.
We shall be returning soon!
